SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

 

Please be sure to read these guidelines in detail, as there are a few crucial changes to this year's contest. 

 

  • ​All poems must be submitted online by the March 1st 2015 deadline, no exceptions!

  • Poems must be submitted by teachers or home school parents.

  • Only one entry per student may be submitted

  • Entries must be original, unpublished, typed poems written by the student. Teachers, we require you to ensure poems are not copied from other sources.

  • Poems may not exceed 28 lines, and should be submitted in the original format used by the student.

  • Poems should be typed without illustrations and sorted by grade level. Specific instructions on how to format the poems for submission can be found on our "Submit Your Poems" page. 

  • All winning students' poems must have a parent permission form subbmitted before their awards can be finalized. Failure to do so will result in the poem's disqualification. More information on the parental permission form process will be given to the teachers/parents of winning students.

 

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

 

Winning students will be notified by teacher email on or before April 1st, 2015. Students and teachers will not be notified of the specific award their poem has recieved until the awards ceremony on April 28th. 

 

  • ​Teachers must reply by email to confirm the announcement of their winning students has been received. 

  • All winning students' original permission forms must be mailed to Region 7 before their poems can be printed or published. More instructions on this aspect of the process can be found on our "submit your poems" page. 

  • The awards ceremony will be held Moday, April 27th, 2015 at the Region 7 Educational Service Center in Kilgore, Texas. 

  • Parents, grandparents, friends, teachers, and administrators are encouraged to attend. Winning students will be provided with a copy of their poem to read and will present their poems beginning with first grade and continuing to twelfth.
